SOPHIA CHAI
b. Pusan, South Korea 1973
Sophia Chai received her MFA in photography from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Chicago, Illinois; and, her BA in Chemistry from the University of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois. Among her awards and distinctions, Chai is a 2020 recipient of the Minnesota State Arts Board (MSAB) Artist Initiative Grant; a 2019 recipient of the SEMAC (Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council) grant for advancing artists; and, a 2019/20 MCAD-Jerome Foundation Fellow for Early Career Artists. Chai lives and works in Rochester, Minnesota.
